Brutalism in Ruins
Keynote Lecture, Center for the GeoHumanities, London, January 27, 2017.
Adopting a transnational and comparative approach, this talk examines the connections between brutalist architecture, ruin aesthetics, hipsterfication, and the violence of globalization in locations such as Detroit, London, and Paris. The talk is part of an event on brutalism and urban politics at the London Science Museum, organized by the Centre for the GeoHumanities at Royal Holloway University of London.
